If you are planning to visit London, there will be simply too much to fit in during a few days. So, I decided to give you a few of my best London places to visit.
Of course, the countryside is not actually in London, However, there is what is known as a ‘green belt’ that encircles the capital.
This belt contains some of the most beautiful forests and areas that you could possibly hope to see. As an added bonus, the peaceful tranquility of a warm summers’ day wandering through the forest, offers therapeutic benefits that are hard to match.
Perhaps the best known of these areas is Epping Forest…highly worth taking an hour or two’s stroll through!
A Stroll Along The Thames
Speaking of therapy, the Thames River in summer is simply awesome!
With quiet waters, leafy shores, and perfect family pubs, you simply can’t go past a stroll along the Thames. I highly recommend it!
Try to aim for areas out of the city proper, maybe head out towards Oxford and beyond. There you will find the best peace and calm that you could hope for in a city of bustling millions.
Village Cricket Clubs
Speaking of summer, the UK is known for it’s love of cricket.
Some of the village cricket clubs on the fringes of the city are simply idyllic. Lush playing fields bordered by leafy Chestnut and Oak trees, with a calm punctuated by the sound of bat on ball is sheer joy.
Even in some of the busy areas of the city, you can still find some magnificent traditional games of cricket. Yes, cricket is not the most exciting of games, but it is perhaps the most relaxing of them.
Not Your Traditional London Day Out
Whilst my suggestions may not be high on the list of Travel Agents, as a Londoner, I can’t recommend them highly enough..so why not give them a try?
